This world is a very brutal place. Sin has taken hold of the
hearts of men since the beginning of all time. Although we all deserve death as
perfect justice for our sin, we have a God that is glorified in His love for
us. That is why he sent his son Jesus Christ to pay the ultimate price for the
debt that we as men incurred. For that, to Him, we owe it all- heart, soul and
mind (Matthew 22:37-40).
I am going into
ministry for a few reasons. Let me tell you why:
I drive to church on Sunday mornings and see Range Rovers, BMW's, Lexus sport
cars, nice clothes, shiny diamond rings and the worlds most expensive cell
phones. Nothing wrong with any of those things in themselves of course, but a
lot of the people who have those things, bat an eye at showing compassion and
mercy to those in need. They also go about their daily lives Sunday afternoon
to Saturday night pretending as if "church" is just a place or
activity. They show no mercy or compassion to people of less fortune, the
homeless, people who have made mistakes, people who are scum, dirty, smelly,
disabled- people who Jesus made it His life mission to heal, spend time with,
teach and minister to.
That’s why I want
to go into ministry. I have witnessed first hand little compassion and
little mercy in my own life, and in the lives of those around me- from the
world and also within the church. Also, the Church has become a harlot with
culture and is so consumed with money, pleasure, possessions, jobs and sports
that the church, particularly in America, has lost complete sight of what it
really means to be a church- the body of Christ. As the Casting Crowns song
goes, I want to show the world that we are the body, and our arms will reach,
our hands will heal, our words will teach, our feet will go, and His love will
show that there is indeed a way.
I want to spend to the rest of my life, Lord willing, separating the church from culture, so that the church can affect culture, and thus build- a Culture for Christ, not just locally, but as Acts 1:8 says, "to the ends of the earth."

I want to prepare
myself for this calling in ministry through His grace by actively doing these
three things: loving the Lord God with all my heart, mind and soul, loving
others as myself (Matthew 22:37-40), and making disciples of all nations
(Matthew 28:19-20). I do not know the time when the Lord will call me to pastor
a church, which is my ultimate desire, but until that time, I will study, walk
with and learn from my Adonai (Master and Lord) Jesus Christ, so as to proclaim
his Glory to the world!
